Whatever happened to " 'Til death do us part?"
You know the days when you could trust someone to give him your heart?
When a vow was a vow, and no trial or conflict could change that
Your word was your bond, in fact it was your love contract
The days when courtship wasn't reduced to some fun in the back seat
But time of deep inspection which led to years of romantic heat
Uh-uh, today it's all gone backward
We wanna try the romance before
The result? An embittered life with a person who really wants to walk out that door
Whatever happened to "For better or for worse?"
Which didn't mean until you stop pleasing me
But "If I am peeved you still are my Eve"
I married you for eternity
We just so easy to quit on love
Or maybe it wasn't love in the first place
So headstrong and wilful we have become
And we go on boldly claiming God's grace??!!
Love seems like a game today
That both male and female wanna play
"He loves me, loves me not...hmmm..I see the flags, but I'll risk my heart anyway."
Who can you trust when many aren't sincere?
Carrying a sanctified veneer, but then they'll thrust you with a spear
Don't accept the world's philosophy on falling in love
'Cause falling is what you do when you are not looking to the One above
Oh yea, the devil has many traps to sweep you off your feet
Let God be the One to choose for you that special help-meet.
